The new beast from BMW, the V8 powered M6 gets pushed to the limit by the guys over at Car and Driver magazine in order to get the best lap time around VIR in their own Lightning Lap special.
The Lightning Lap is a just their American version of a Nurburgring lap, where they test the newest cars set up in different categories, depending on their price tag. The M6 established the best BMW time ever on the Virginia International Raceway, as it was only expected.
The new 6er managed to defeat its heavier brother, the M5, finishing the lap 1 and a half seconds ahead. Both cars have the same 4.4-liter V8 S63 engine with 560 HP and 680 Nm of torque and the same gearboxes, the only difference is that the M5 is a little heavier.
However, the M6 proved it is the fastest BMW at the moment and that German engineering knows what it's doing. The car that weighs almost 2 tones got a decent lap time considering the skills of the driver behind the wheel.
