In the previous video, all the talk was focused on performance. This time, we’re taking a look at the design elements and how they influenced the creation and development of the end product.

Over at BMW, aesthetics and functionality are two sides of the same coin. That’s why the i8 looks so good. It has what BMW calls ‘layering’, a concept that aims to create beautiful cars whilst also keeping them functional at the same time.

The i8 has a very low drag coefficient, really close to the world record. However, the designers didn’t forget to also include trademark design features into the shape of the end product, like the kidney grille at the front and the corona rings in the headlights.

One of the biggest and most impressive design innovations you’ll notice are the butterfly doors that will always amaze the audience, no matter where you are.

Last but not least, the same layering concept is present inside the cabin too, to make the entire cockpit driver oriented. Using renewable and eco-friendly materials, the i8 is truly heading into the future of sustainable mobility. Check out the video below for even more details.
