With a combined fuel consumption of 5.2 l/100 km (45 mpg) for the 320i EDE, the 3er is one of the most efficient cars with a 2-liter turbocharged engine.
As a comparison, the standard 320i, without the EfficientDynamics package has a fuel consumption of 6 l/100km (50 mpg). The difference is obtained by using an impressive arsenal of new technologies.
These features include the already stock Start/Stop system, improved aerodynamics, electric power steering, optimal usage of energy throughout the car and the transmission, Brake Energy regeneration, air vent control, gear shift indicator and special tires with reduced rolling resistance.
