Amongst the various maintenance operations you have to do to your car to keep it in the best shape possible, changing the gearbox fluid is an important one, especially if you have a more 'special' transmission.
Officially, BMW claims that the oil that comes inside the M-DCT gearbox from the assembly lines is lifelong but sometimes, especially if you're racing your car on various tracks, it's better to change the transmission oil.

BMW uses the Pentosin FFL4 oil for their gearboxes and the part number is 1080107. You'll need 21 liters of the valuable fluid and it's not cheap but no price's too high for our cars, is it now?

You'll also need a fluid pump, a thermometer (one with infrared readings would be great) and various tools for gaining access to the gearbox (like Philips screwdrivers, flathead screwdrivers and some wrenches).

This step by step guide will take you through the process, describing exactly how you should proceed and what temperatures should be read. Good luck!
