BMW usually keeps releasing special models of its high-performance cars, to keep things interesting as time goes by. It’s only natural that as technology advances at such a rapid pace, it’s hard for a car to keep up with newer competitors over a 7-year life span.
The same happened to the BMW E92 M3. A couple of special edition models were launched a couple of years after its official unveiling, to keep matters interesting, nice and competitive in the segment.
Amongst them you could spot the CRT, the ZCP (Competition Package) models and the GTS that is the best of the bunch. Why? Because it was specifically designed to offer even better performance on the track.
Compared to the standard model, it has a 4.4-liter stroked V8 engine that thanks to those 400 extra ccs is also making more power, being rated at 450 HP instead of just 420.
That’s not the only improvement though. Just like the E46 CSL before it, the GTS is 300 lbs (136 kg) lighter than the standard model due to various weight saving measures. The problem with this model is that there were only 250 units ever made and they had a starting price tag of €115,000. Getting one is rather a tricky business.
Getting two of them together for a quick photo shoot is an even rarer occurrence and yet one lucky guy had the chance to do so in Germany earlier this week and you can check out his photos in the gallery below.
