Talking about value, here we have two cars that used to have a huge price difference between them, the E92 M3 and the Audi R8. Back in the day, when the two were fresh out the assembly lines, the Audi used to be roughly twice as expensive as the Bimmer.
Sure, it looks like it’s from another planet but was it worth the extra $60,000? Judging by the drag video posted below, you’d be inclined to say ‘Ney!’ but we’re sure some people might find something to point out that will completely justify its price tag.
Looking over the specs, the cars are almost similar. The BMW uses an S65 V8 4-liter engine making 420 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque whereas the Audi R8 uses a bigger, 4.2-liter V8 making the same amount of power but more torque, rated at 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque.
Unlike the Bavarian, the R8 also had all-wheel-drive on its side but that would’ve only helped if the race started from a standstill. As it didn’t, the rear-wheel-drive disadvantage was ruled out. Both cars are manuals and it shows, as the Bimmer pulls away, mostly due to the driver. Check it out!
