Back in the early 1990s, BMW was ruling the DTM with its E30 M3. One of them was wearing a rather interesting livery that appeals to those that like flavored drinks. The Jagermeister M3 was driven in the famous German Touring Car championship but it wasn’t the only car to wear these colors.
Other manufacturers and other models also featured such liveries including a Porsche 956. However, one fan of the Bavarian brand decided to bring those memories back using a BMW.

Combining the old with the new

Today’s race cars are not allowed to advertise drinks and the magic of seeing such liveries on the track is no longer accessible. Today, sponsors are different and include banks, smartphone manufacturers and even postal services.

Therefore, for a contemporary car to wear such colors it would have to be a custom job. That’s exactly what happened here, with a BMW E90 M3 getting dressed in a Jagermeister Livery thanks to some brilliant wrapping done by the guys from Lp Foil in Germany. Even though it's hard to believe, the M3 is Sapphire Black underneath all that plastic!

Paying tribute

According to the man behind the project, the idea was "to [pay] homage to the E30 M3 #19 DTM car from 1992 driven by Hahne. I wanted to pay tribute to the BMW M3 in part because of their successful 2012 return to DTM and the love I have for this car and its history. It was a fun way to mesh the old with the new.”

From where we’re sitting, they actually achieved their goal, showing the world the magic of such rare liveries on a modern BMW. Considering Bruno Spengler claimed the title in 2012, the inaugural season for the Bavarians after a 20-year absence, we’d say this is a truly fitting tribute. Check it out in the gallery below!
