Rumors have it that BMW is looking to drop the Z4 nameplate and go with a different model in the future. It may be so but until we get to see an actual new car in the Z Series range we won’t believe a word the internet is saying.
Until then we revel in older versions, those that already wrote history by now and won’t be easily forgotten. Amongst them you’ll find the predecessor of the current E89 model, the E85. That was actually the first Z4 ever built, coming in hot on the heels of the Z3.

Fortunately for us, BMW decided to offer an M version of that car up for sale and fans all over the world rejoiced. That’s because the E85 Z4 M Roadster and the E86 Z4 M Coupe used the same engine as the legendary E46 M3, the S54 unit.

That’s the last naturally aspirated inline 6-cylinder engine ever made by the M division and it was absolutely great. With a 3.2-liter displacement, it used to make 343 HP and 365 Nm (269 lb-ft) of torque, plenty for the Z4.

With such a brilliant engine under the bonnet, this M couldn’t be easily left to rot in the history books. The car still attracts attention to this day and the guys from Slek Design decided to give it a makeover.

Their creation is actually unique, a one-off that is meant to show the world just how good they are with carbon fibre. The exterior received a complete wide body kit made from the lightweight material, one that could easily rival the works of Liberty Walk.

The overall black theme of the car is completed by golden wheels, a golden roll cage inside and red Status sport seats. Sure the photos by Trevor Thompson are taken in the most favorable light but the color combo is powerful enough to catch your eye. The rest is there to make it absolutely stunning.
