A lot of people have been saying that BMW’s 1M Coupe was nothing than a pumped up 135i. Hell, some even went as far as saying that the 135is is basically the 1M slightly detuned. We can tell you for sure that’s not the case but the myth will be forever imprinted in people’s heads.
Sure, from a visual standpoint, the allegations do make some sense. However, you can get yourself basically any 1 Series Coupe models and transform it into a 1M with the proper parts. That doesn’t mean you’ll get the same kicks though.
Speaking of which, when we first saw this particular 135i we though we might be in the presence of an 1M but we soon realized that wasn’t the case. This is not one of the 6,331 cars the Bavarians made to show that ‘they still have it’.
On the other hand, this Bimmer has a Prior Design 1M body kit that looks almost exactly the same as the original. Round the back, there’s a carbon fiber ducktail welcoming you while the mirrors and the front grilles have turned to the same lightweight material.
The engine is rated by BMW at 306 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) normally. However, just like the exterior, under the bonnet things are how they might look like from the outside. There’s a Stage 2 Macht Tuning kit installed over there along with an Arqray exhaust that takes care of the extra fumes, a Forge Twintercooler and a K&N sport air intake.
Everything is then completed by a set of PUR Design 19 inch 4OUR rims that sit tightly under the KW V3 coilovers. It’s all fitting so well together it brings a metaphorical tear to our eyes.
