A couple of months after the X6 was launched, many people praised its looks and even more complained about its shortcomings. There were a lot of disputes whether this car was a win or fail, but almost 5 years later the X6 is doing great and BMW is preparing a new model. The Auto Page tested one just to see for themselves what's what.
Their test vehicle was a BMW X6 xDrive35i with a price tag of $82,445 (€64,183) out of which almost $21,000 were just options. The engine of this X6 is a 3-liter 6-cylinder straight unit with 300 HP and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque and was connected to a 8-speed automatic transmission.

Driving this Sports Activity Coupe for a couple of days showed the guys just how good the X6 is. The ride is high, as in a proper SUV but cornering and negotiating turns at a high speed won't get you into trouble. BMW's SAC hold true to his DNA.

Even though many people complained about the lack of space in the back, during this test drive no one from the test team complained about such things. The Bimmer proved it's a great, comfortable and powerful cruiser.

The comfort of the front seats is most welcoming and offers great side support. The dashboard is clear and has some interesting features that help you out with the lack of rearview visibility. For example, when backing up the side mirrors fold down to allow you to see how close to the curb you actually are. At the same time, an aerial display shows your exact position.

BMW's X6 is definitely special. It doesn't fit the SUV description and is definitely not a classic Coupe. It's something else, that brings together the best of two worlds while also keeping the BMW DNA alive.
