BMW E46 M3 Prices Dropping Well Under $20,000 Are a Way too Early Christmas Present

The E46 M3 model is revered as one of the best handling coupes of all time and I sincerely agree. The S54 engine under its bonnet and the lightweight construction coupled with a near-perfect distribution of the pounds translate into a highly desirable car.

However, prices recently dropped under $20,000 and we’re talking about cars that are either mint or in near-mint condition. That’s something that definitely shouldn’t be overlooked by any BMW fan this side of the Atlantic.

That’s because this is a legendary car with an engine that simply begs to be revved hard, makes 333 HP and will send you laughing to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds which is fast even by today’s standards. Should we also mention the 6-speed gearbox and the sound that inline 6-cylinder makes?

So what else could you buy in this price bracket? Well, maybe a Scion FR-S or a Corolla? Let’s be fair here, I’d rather buy a second-hand M3 with all its possible faults rather than spending the same amount of money of a brand new Corolla, no matter how long the warranty is!

In Europe things are a bit different, prices being slightly lower, sitting at around €12,000 which translates into $14,000 at today’s exchange rates. However, cars in the EU seem to be less cared for and the mileage on their clocks is definitely higher.

Amongst the top picks we could find in the US was a $16,500 mint M3 in Berkeley, California, or a $18,888 one with only 49,842 miles on the clock in Dallas. If these two don’t rock your boat, maybe a supercharged one will do it, located in Collierville, Tennessee but at a higher price, of course.
