Back in 1998, when the E39 M5 was released, the world stopped for a moment. It was the first time when an M5 was fitted with a V8 engine and everyone wanted to see how good it was. Even to this day, the V8 S62 engine doesn't disappoint and creates a ruckus everywhere it's going.
Spotter Gumbal managed to film an amazing E39 M5 on the Nurburgring's Nordschleife. Even 10 years after being pulled out of production, this Bimmer still manages to raise our pulse.

The stock S62 V8 4.94-liter engine delivered an impressive 400 HP and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque in response to the competition's E55 Benz that had 350 HP and Jaguar XJR that was developing 370 HP.

The transmission was done through a 6-speed Getrag Type D manual gearbox that helped the car reach 100 km/h (62mph) in 4.8 seconds. This was definetly one of the best M5's ever built (not to say the best yet) and will forever have a special place in out hearts.
