Top Gear might be over, but the thousands of fans that adore the show are still here, and they might even pay good bucks to own a small piece of its history. As it turns out, everyone is out to make a quick dollar on the account of the show, and this E36 M3 is no exception.
Its owner is selling it at the Classic Car Auctions in Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on June 6, and he’s going for gold. According to him, the car you see here is the one Richard Hammond drove in Season 15 of the show when the dynamic trio had a used sports saloon challenge.
If you remember, Clarkson came up with a Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth in that episode while James May arrived aboard a Mercedes 190E Cosworth. Of course, needless to say, Richard Hammond had this beauty by his side.
The car does look decent for its age and considering what it went through on the show. The interior seems to have been changed over time and even if you overlook the fact that it was used by Hammond; it’s still a decent car.
The E36 is one of the few models that received the M3 badge on a sedan. Since this is a 1996 model, the engine under the bonnet is a 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder mill making 316 HP of smooth goodness.
According to the website, the estimated price for this car will be around £7,500 - £10,500 which is rather ok considering it has 79,000 miles (127,190 km) on the clock.
