The BMW E34 5 Series was never officially exported to China. The car was produced between 1988 and 1996 and that means it started production whilst the Communist countries were still functioning, before the Autumn of Nations.
That means that BMW could not sell the E34 in China because of the political regime. However, some cars did get into China by diplomatic means or through the gray market.

The car spotted near the 3rd Ring in Beijing seemed to be in perfect working condition and looked sharp and clean, a rather rare appearance on the streets of China where BMWs are usually heavily modified.

The 525i had an inline 6-cylinder 2.5-liter engine with 192 HP and 245 Nm of torque guaranteeing a top speed of 220 km/h. The one spotted in China had some minor paint troubles and the chrome finished looked a bit out of touch but was in good shape overall despite the old-age.
