The BMW Group extended an invitation to its annual "Wiesn Sport-Stammish" get-together that is taking place during the most famous festival in the world. About 30 athletes and officials from various fields answered, including DTM Drivers.

Amongst those that came along you could spot BMW Group Sports Ambassador Katarina Witt (figure skating), Georg Hackl (luge), Rosi Mittermaier (downhill skiing), Christian Neureuther (downhill skiing) and Christoph Langen (bob).

From BMW's DTM Division, the Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt, drivers Bruno Spengler, Dirk Werner, Augusto Farfus, Martin Tomczyk, Andy Priaulx, Marco Wittmann and Timo Glock were on spot, alongside development driver Maxime Martin.

The ceremonies included a group photo at the "Bavaria statue", a ride in the dodgems (bumper cars) and a shot at the "Hau den Lukas" game (strongman). The archery competition that followed ("Oiden Wiesn") was the prelude to the Bavarian delicacies that were served and the washed down with cool beer.

“On a day like today, with this wonderful sunshine, a day at Oktoberfest is obviously twice as much fun. For the last five years, I have come here at least once a year. I like the atmosphere, and everyone is just having great fun. For me, this festival is an integral part of what Munich is about,” said Augusto Farfus from BMW Team RBM.

“It is very special to visit Oktoberfest with BMW in blue skies and glorious sunshine, to wonder around the festival and to try out the odd fairground ride. I had great fun meeting the other athletes. You get to know new people, make new contacts, and find out a bit more about what is going on outside of the world of motorsport,” added Timo Glock, BMW Team MTEK.

Let's hope that the beer will be out of the drivers' systems before this weekend's race in the Netherlands, on the Zandvoort circuit.
