This year, BMW team MTEK will have a rookie driver behind the wheels of its 2013 DTM M3. The BMW Motorsport team did a cover story on the 23 year old to see where he comes from.
As you might expect, Marco is a normal guy, who inherited the passion for motorsport from his father, the owner of a small garage in his hometown, Markt Erlbach.

He worked there as a coach builder for the last four or five years. Even he can't remember exactly. His profession allowed him to contact the world of motorsports and see, first hand, how great and interesting it really is.

He first started competing in the Formula 3 Series where he managed to get encouraging results, like second place in 2010 and 2011, after which he was drafted by BMW as the 7th driver for this season.

Having worked as a mechanic, he understands what they are dealing with on a race track and this allowed him to better appreciate their work. Furthermore, he is still helping his father out whenever he needs him, even though he's a full time racing driver now.

Marco considers himself just a normal 23-year old that got the chance to follow his dreams and do what he likes as a regular job. We can't wait to see him compete this year and wish him good luck.
