Continued from Page 1 of "BMW Driving Experience: How To Manhandle a BMW M"We are presented with the course and Claudiu has been nothing less than demonic when designing it. Let’s take the slalom at the end, for example. Not only is this irregular, but the distances vary in a way that really puts your abilities to work.

We’ll each have two untimed laps in order to get used to the course and then we’ll see who paid attention to Claudiu’s advice and who spent the time contemplating his beautiful colleague, missis Mihaela Beldie. Born in a scenic city, Mihaela studied medicine at... wait, this is another story, we’ll talk about it on a different occasion.

Let’s get back to the engine compartment of the Frozen Blue M3, where the temperature had reached the optimum level, so it was time to start the games.

Late braking is easy, but carving the perfect line through the long u-turn that marks the halfway point of the run can get a bit tricky. As you make mistakes and Claudiu uses the walkie-talkie to deliver precious advice after and sometimes during each run, everybody can hear him.

All the other guys who can’t start their lap because you spun out now find out what you did wrong. This is extremely educative but also puts some pressure on you.

Make no mistake though, this is exactly what the BMW Driver Training module is about. You learn to drive fast with constraints so that you’ll have what it takes to handle the real tricky situations you encounter everyday, be it on the road or track.
