BMW Drivers Gain More Points as Audi Winner Gets Disqualified

Yesterday we told you that in the 5th race of the 2013 DTM Championship, held at Norisring, 4 BMW drivers placed in the top 10 and therefore won points, with Dirk Werner just barely missing out, finishing 11th.

However, the winner of the race, Audi driver Mattias Ekstrom was disqualified after the race, after illegitimately having water poured into the pockets of his race suit in parc ferme in Nuremberg. This constitutes an infringement of the parc ferme rules and therefore the win went to Mercedes-Benz driver Robert Wickens.

This means that now 5 BMW drivers finished in the top ten, and Dirk Werner managing to secure a valuable point after winning 10 positions, climbing from the 20th spot on the grid, where he started the race.

Joey Hand, Andy Priaulx, Marco Wittmann and Werner were moved up to seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth for BMW.
