People say many things about BMW drivers, some of them are true, while others are just folk tales. We are here now to give you a story that’s as true as it is amusing - a man in a 5-Series trying to run away with a wheel clamp on.
The action takes place in Dublin, where an elderly driver of an E39-generation 5-Series Touring uses an interesting approach when finding his car clamped. He tries to get away with it by driving the car with the metallic claw on the wheel.
Things didn’t quite go according to plan, if there ever was a one, neither in terms of driving, nor when it came to dealing with the authorities. You can see the escape attempt in the clip above.
Youtube user Mark Kelly, who caught the feat on camera, has a few spicy details for us: “I initially stopped while he was in traffic assuming he didn't realise coz he was oldish.. However, he told me 'feck the clampers, they can go to hell' as he drove off down Ranelagh main street been persued by them. Pretty good driving until the road started to curve and he started driving straight ahead towards the footpath! Clampers obviously followed slowly, as they knew he wasn't really going to escape!”
