The Nurburgring might have been getting all the attention for quite some years now, but it isn't the only track in the world that sees amateur drivers letting track fever getting the best of them and crashing their cars.
Heck, the Nordschleife isn't even the only track in Germany that can have such an effect on tourists, with the Hockenheim track day footage below demonstrating this.

Now that the 2016 season has opened in Europe, drivers are eager to shake off the dust their racecars have gathered over the winter. However, some of them end up turning their machines into dust, as is the case here.

The footage, which was captured on March 23, shows a BMW E36 driver who tries to pass an Opel Astra G. While the guy in the Astra doesn't play nice, acting as if this were a race, not a track day and not giving the Bimmer man overtaking space, the E36 driver is so determined not to give up that he lets this feeling take over.

After a few failed attempts to go round the Opel, the BMW driver steps onto the grass, with the vibrator jump on the way back to the track being enough to unsettle his car.

The driver displays a proper reaction, countersteering swiftly and staying off the gas, but this still isn't enough to bring the 3-Series Coupe back in line.

The Bavarian machine leaves the tarmac, goes through the gravel trap and hits the tire wall. Despite the gravel and the rubber being there to soften the blow, the accident was still serious enough to ruin the rear end of the E36.

As we said, the lesson to be learned here is simple - don't let the overtaking desire take control to the point where you risk a crash for a non-existent cup.
