Ludwig Willisch, BMW North America CEO, said in an interview for Bloomberg.tv that sales for BMW diesels are expected to pick up during 2013.

Bloomberg's own Matt Miller interviewed Willisch at the New York Auto Show that is currently underway place and they discussed the cars that BMW introduced at the event.

According to Willisch, the American market isn't quite prepared to adopt diesels at the moment but future oil prices and the extended range the new models will offer will definitely improve sales on the North American continent in the future.

Talking about xDrive systems, Willisch confirmed that all future BMWs for the US market will be available with the four-wheel-drive transmission. This option is important, especially in what the CEO likes to call "the snow belt", where rear-wheel drive cars don't even make the shopping list.

Going over the Active Tourer Concept, BMWNA CEO confirmed that it will be aimed at a completely new type of customer, one that's not satisfied by the current line-up.
