BMW has been looking for new areas to explore lately, and there seems to be no limit to their imagination. Today, they unveiled a rather peculiar product as nobody expected the German company to enter this field.
Known for their 'ultimate driving machines' BMW isn't necessarily a big name in mouthguard production. They launched such a product today, under the supervision of Dr. Uwe Gotobekidin, the Head of Product Fabrication. It's called the BMW Motor Mouth Guard.
Made out of ethylene-propylen -dien -rubber (the same material used for door seals on BMW models), the mouth guard was rigurously tested with the help of rugby player, Chris Robshaw.
The design is unmistakably BMW, featuring a signature kidney grille between the frontincisiors that also act as an elegant respiration vent. The interior of the guard uses tire tread technology and grips accordingly.
“We wanted to develop something that could genuinely improve performance and help the face of rugby and we’ve loved getting our teeth into this unique opportunity to collaborate with the sport," said Dr Uwe Gotobekidin.
“We understand the importance of marginal gains in improving performance on the pitch and we have employed all our automotive design and engineering skills in delivering this project. We have every confidence it will get the rugby world’s tongues wagging,” he added.
Well, there you have it folks! After designing metro trains and rescue vehicles from the future, the BMW designer team actually created something easier to buy and possibly even more useful!
