The record sales registered by BMW in the first 7 months of the year cemented the first place in a 3-horse race for the title of Germany's most sold luxury manufacturer.
In the first half of the year, BMW sold a total of 804,258 units, enough to beat Audi with its 780,510 vehicles and Mercedes-Benz with 694,433 vehicles that seems to be stuck in 3rd place for quite a while now.
The profits were not as big as expected, though, adding up to $2.75 billion (€2.07 billion). The main reason behind this drawback is the massive investment in infrastructure and R&D in order to bring forth the i3.
For the upcoming months things are going to get even better due to the new F32 4 Series Coupe, the F15 X5 and the i3 that will go on sale later this year and should further boost sales.
