BMW has announced it has made a significant update for its personal mobility companion, BMW Connected. The highlights are Alexa and Android integration.
The new facilities are available in the 3.0 version of BMW Connected, which is available for download for iOS users. At the same time, Android users get their first BMW Connected app, which is at Version 1.0.
Both of them have Alexa integration, vehicle service alerts, a battery-saving mode, and the variant for Apple devices supports the Apple Watch. The latter gets a dedicated app for BMW Connected.
These improvements are based on the Open Mobility Cloud, which allows users to access the services provided in the BMW Connected package anytime they want, and without mattering how far away from the vehicle they are positioned.
As long as you have an Internet connection and the car gets reception as well, you are correlated to the vehicle you own and can monitor it.
Furthermore, the system gets the option of creating a “BMW ID,” which is an intelligent feature that is based on a user’s travel patterns over time. With those trends, your BMW will be able to provide a personalized experience that enriches your drive.
As we have said before, the biggest update made to the system is introducing connectivity for Android-based smartphones.
The Apple Watch 2 has also been implemented on the list of supported devices, but letting Android users get connected with their BMW is a significant milestone for what once was a closed system that was only available to iOS users.
