People have been saying that the BMW brand is no longer focused on the way their cars drive and more on offering stupid luxurious items that are overpriced. Usually, I stand by BMW and defend them as much as possible but when they do stuff like this, it’s hard to make a point.
A while back we were telling you that the Bavarians plan to introduce an option called ‘leather engine cover’ on the upcoming 7 Series and most people scoffed but believed us when we said it. Well, the Germans basically confirmed our story today when they announced that the i8 will be getting a couple of new things as standard and optional features.

Starting this March, the plug-in hybrid will get more standard features that weren’t specified. On top of that, the Pure Impulse Experience program will finally be available, introducing the customers to the best lifestyle products in the areas of culture, design, travel and gastronomy.

As far as the new optionals go, the Carpo Carum Grey interior will be launched, made of natural leather elements combined with perforated leather, all of them made in the Carum Grey color. The press release also mentions the ‘leather engine cover’ in a fleeting phrase, without making too much fuss about it. And there’s no reason to think that the upcoming flagship won’t get it as well.

More frozen paint colors for the M3 and M4

Leaving that leather thingy aside, the M3 Sedan, M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible are also due for an improvement of their optionals range. Therefore, the biggest news is the availability of new Frozen paints in black, silver, red and brilliant white metallic hues.

On top of that, the M4 Coupe gets the Merino fine grain leather upholstery in Opal White, Amaro Brown, Golden Brown, Cohiba Brown and Nutmeg as well as Individual all-leather black upholstery with contrasting seam in Sakhir Orange, Yellow, Blue or Silverstone. The instrument panel can now also be ordered in color-matching leather as well.
