The all-new and until now, all-secret BMW Concept Roadster is a truly great proof that the Germans can do in fact much more than building high-tech machines. This time it’s all about refined styling applied to the new power plant BMW is using in their new bikes. As the R nineT was the last machine to use the air- and oil-cooled engine, the Concept Roadster is the first streetfighter to use the new lump and “continuity” should have been its name.
At the heart of the BMW Concept Roadster we’ll find the iconic boxer in its latest time, capable of delivering 125 hp @7,750 rpm and 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) at 6,500 revs, most likely mated to a sport-oriented 6-gear transmission. Pretty much all you used to know about the boxer machines is now gone, as the livery of the BMW Concept Roadster is minimalist and truly evil.

entered on the massive boxer engine and the tank above it, the bike looks extremely compact, with most of its mass centralized in the engine area. Still, the milled aluminium tail section and its glossy finish are quickly drawing attention, with their uncanny presence reminding of both the “shark gills” of the S1000RRor two “prongs” of the new R1200GS.

illed aluminium can be seen in many other places around the bike and it looks like it is the “theme” of the machine. Also with a matte shine though obviously not in aluminium, the underbelly exhaust acts as a chin spoiler and as silencer, with the endpipe sticking proudly upwards under the seat. With discreet and yet-catching eon yellow accents, the valve covers also act like sliders and might grow to tell wonderful stories.
No if BMW would only deliver such beasts off the mill...
