BMW Concept Gran Coupe Reaches Europe

A very unusual event for the automotive industry took place on Wednesday night in Munich, where German manufacturer BMW hosted a meeting with selected media representatives, giving them a sneak peak into the future designs and design principles.

As BMW says, today, the main design direction of the company is represented by the BMW Concept Gran Coupe, the model presented for the first time at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year. The Gran Coupe was also the main star of the Design Night, as it was brought for the first time to Europe, just as we told you it would a few days back.

BMW says about the concept it “embodies high-quality elegance combined with superior dynamic performance.” A car which blends the presence and elegance of a 7-series with a more dynamic, sporty character.

“The BMW Concept Gran Coupé provides a look ahead to the interpretation of these values in future models of the manufacturer of premium automobiles,”
the carmaker states.

In its dynamically striking proportions, this elegant 4-door vehicle reveals the classic features of a BMW coupe, yet at the same time offers a fascinating and aesthetically impressive formal style which brings the properties of the product to bear in an authentic manner.

The concept, which is said to give birth in the near future to either a 6 Series Gran Coupe or a new 8 Series, is 5 meters long and has a roof which is 100 millimeters shorter than the one on the 7-Series sedan.

Following its presentation at the BMW Welt, the Concept Grand Coupe will head to the Moscow Motor Show on August 25 and to Paris in October.
