BMW Motorrad revealed the Concept 101 machine at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. Concept 101 serves as an indicator to where BMW's cruiser design might be headed for, as the bike blends in massive classic American bagger styling with the aggressiveness and the road worthiness of the K1600 machine.
Concept 101 got its name from its engine, as the 1,649cc six-cylinder power plant that motivates BMW's K1600 flagship cruisers packs almost 101 cubic inches.

BMW's vision on custom baggers looks elegant

Motorrad's goal was to deliver a concept that embodies both high performance and a strong emotional factor. Brushed aluminium and carefully-chosen colors blend in with awesome LED tail lights and real wood inserts. And because Roland Sands has also proven one of the visionary creators for BMW with its work on the R nineT, his magic was also needed on the Concept 101.

Sands designed exclusive parts for the BMW Concept 101 and crafted them manually. Parts such as the clutch cover, timing chain cover and wheels proudly carry the RSD badge. As for the wooden inserts that ostentatiously show the warm grain, this is  a move of unspeakable, majestuous boldness. Harking back to the station wagons of the '70s, Concept 101 blends in the warmth of the wood grain with the silvery livery and carbon fiber accents into a final product that leaves people gasping.

With wood panels stretching from the front cowl to the mid-ship and tank, and accenting the saddlebags, Concept 101 almost looks like a product of natural evolution. The peculiar exhausts are hug pieces of custom craftsmanship and they are neatly integrated into the build, even though we are sure that not everyone will like them.

As elegant the K1600GTL Exclusive might be, the BMW Concept 101 blows it out of the water. Unfortunately we won't get such a combnation of power, luxury, elegance and uniquness in stores, but of the final version of the K1600 bagger is anything like Concept 101, then the Honda F6B and the classic Harley dressers might have a problem.
