BMW Celebrates 80 Years at Techno Classica

The Techno Classica event in Essen, the largest classic car show in the world for veteran, vintage and classic cars, set to open its doors on April 1st, will be the host of BMW's 80 anniversary as a group and MINI's brand 50th celebration. The German manufacturer will display at the event an entire array of both classic and modern vehicles, including the new Z4.

The show is not only an opportunity for the manufacturer to show the Z1, Z3 or Z8, but also a chance for BMW and clubs to revive the glamour of past vehicles. As Karl Baumer, Director of BMW Group Classic says, "such a wide thematic range can only be covered with the help of the BMW and MINI clubs. As on the road, here at the fair too it is the car owners who are the ambassadors of the brands.”

The fair is also a good place for part suppliers to show off their business. The range of components provided extends from the earliest pre-war parts all the way to spares for the second BMW 3 Series. In addition, BMW Classic offers restoration work, servicing and vehicle certificates.

"The aim was to expand our range and be able to offer our customers more services. We are delighted at the huge response we are getting,” says Ralf Vierlein, responsible for development and technology at BMW Group Classic.

The oldest vehicle on the stand is provided by the Automobile Welt Eisenach museum: the BMW 3/15 DA2, dating back to 1929. It is joined by classics such as the BMW 335 and the 1950s BMW 503 and 507. Following the BMW 02 Series are the 3.0 CSi and CSL Coupés as well as the forerunner of the 7 Series, the BMW 3.0Si. The BMW 5 Series will also be present, as will the 3 Series, the BMW 635CSi and the BMW M1.
