It's February, and the numbers for last month are coming in. BMW USA has reported a 0.7 percent increase in January sales compared to the same month in 2012. During the same month, MINI reported a 10.4 percent increase, the combined growth reaching 2.3 percent. 20,195 vehicles from the Bavarian manufacturer were sold last month, whereas in January 2012 the sales added up to 19,739.
"After a historic December, January produced a good result showing our growth continuing. In 2013 we'll have more new models, the right mix and better availability, so I'm very positive about the eleven months still ahead," said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW North America LLC.

BMW brand sales increased only 0.7 percent in January, which means a difference of only 109 vehicles (16,513 vehicles sold in January 2013 compared to 16,405 vehicles sold in January 2012). It might seem like a slow start, but keeping in mind the fact that the auto industry sales are, in most of the other parts of the world, in a severe downfall these days, any plus is a big improvement for BMW.

The best sellers were the BMW's SUVs, the X3, X5 and X6, which continued to show growth with sales increasing by 41.3 percent (reaching 6,469 units). The highest increase was recorded by the X5 Sport Activity Vehicle with 56.5 percent, followed by the X6 SAV with 34.8 percent and the X3 with 18.9 percent (the X3 sales are not bad at all, considering that this model has been on the US market only for 2 years).

MINI brand sales recorded the best numbers ever for the month of January, with a number of 3,682 vehicles sold, an increase of 10.4 percent from the 3,334 vehicles sold in January 2012.

Regarding pre-owned BMW vehicles, in January 2013 sales went up 13.9 percent compared with January 2012 (from 11,699 in 2012 to 13,322 in 2013). Meanwhile, MINI pre-owned vehicle sales also increased, showing a 70 percent rise in 2013 ( from 907 sold in January 2012 to 1,542 sold in January 2013).
