Updated: BMW at the Beach Plows into the Sea as Driver Uses Wrong Pedal

Holidays in Greece have become extremely mainstream, especially from people from other parts of Europe (no pun intended). So what can you do to come up with something new?

Getting your car on the beach and perhaps even ending up in the water isn't all that fresh either - we've seen many SUV drivers doing it. But what it you drive a sedan?

Perhaps that could spark a bit of interest from the local sunbathers and maybe more.

What actually happened on that beach in Greece

Yes, we know, such a story line sounds like something a three-year-old would laugh at. But it's definitely more plausible than the "official" explanation given by the BMW driver in the video below.

The man happened to take his 5-Series to the beach (many tourists are crazy about stepping out of the car and onto the sand). At that point, he... confused the throttle for the brake, with the car plowing into the water.

This has to be the oldest trick in the book when it comes to explaining a crash that doesn't seem to have any logical trajectory. Still, this is what the man told those who asked him about the bathing habits of the 5er. The vehicle was eventually pulled out of the water using a tractor. Unfortunately, we don't know if the engine had experience hydrolock damage or not.

For the record, an E60-generation such as this one can sell for anything between 10 and 20 grand, depending on the options and mileage. The car seems to belong to a family and we mustn't forget they have to return home.

According to the plates, the BMW comes from Romania. Starting from Greece, you can get to Romania in one day of driving, but not when your car has had a salty water encounter.

Update: local media reports the BMW was driven by a woman (link in Greek).
