BMW Announces New Concept for Beijing, to Be Unveiled Sunday

The growing importance of the Chinese market around the world, for every car maker out there, finally pays up for the random buyer from the Asian country. BMW just announced that it will be introducing a new concept at the Beijing Auto Show, set to be unveiled on Sunday.

The German group didn’t say too much about what the new car will be like or what it represents but just a brief statement, published on its press website saying:

“The BMW Group presents an exclusive design study that provides a long-term outlook on its perception of modern luxury for the BMW brand. This concept car portrays luxury as a forward-looking fusion of exclusivity and innovation, with the focus on outstanding exterior and interior design quality, select materials, seamlessly integrated control units featuring pioneering technology, an innovative lightweight construction concept and a driving experience that is optimally tailored to the needs of all occupants.”

What can we make out of this? Well, not too much but we can go back to the early rumors about what the Bavarians will bring at the Chinese Auto Show.

First of all there were people saying that there will be a 9 Series unveiling taking place and that we should expect it to be more luxurious and bigger than the 7 Series. Couple that with the words the company itself used in its teasing press release and we might actually see a concept envisioning that car.

Furthermore, not too long ago, the Germans announced that they will start using Organic LEDs in the near future, since they can be designed and used in more ways than their conventional LED predecessors. Therefore, expect this new car to feature either OLEDs or Laser Lights or both of them.

A luxurious interior will also, almost likely, be introduced, featuring the best BMW has to offer in this field, from a revised design to the poshest and most expensive materials.

On the outside, things might also migrate into a new direction. If they are serious about presenting a “long-term outlook on its perception of modern luxury for the BMW brand” then a new look is mandatory, one that keeps in touch with the company's core values while looking forward into the 21st century.

Sure, all of this is speculation at the moment but, if the Germans deliver what we expect of them, the 2014 Beijing Auto Show might be where we witness history being written, once again.
