It could be just me but somehow, every time I go at the cinema to watch a car movie it seems like all the people who enjoyed the film just a couple of minutes before somehow turn into racing drivers and race like crazy all over town immediately after. I saw this type of behavior after all the Fast and Furious movies and now I’m afraid the same will happen with the Need for Speed franchise.
Unfortunately, the first crash related to the new movie already happened, in the Netherlands. A BMW M5 crashed into a Rolls-Royce Ghost on the way to the premiere of the highly-anticipated movie.

According to the Supercarclub Holland group, the BMW driver was in a hurry and didn’t notice the traffic jam that was piling up right in front of him, crashing at a claimed speed of 62 mph (100 km/h) into the ultra luxurious limousine. Somehow I find that speed rather hard to believe as the cars don’t seem too damaged and everyone made it out alive.

The unfortunate Rolls then proceeded to hit the car in front, an Audi A5 that was also damaged. Apparently, these were the only 3 cars involved in the collision which makes the claimed 100 km/h (62 mph) speed even more suspicious.

However, I’m afraid things will only get worse from now on as thousands of teenagers and daredevils will watch the movie and then try to replicate the things they’ve seen in the movie, on the road. Hopefully we won’t see any victims.

The Need for Speed movie was inspired by the video game series with the same name and will make its official debut on March 14. It tells the story of a street racer that seeks revenge, played by Breaking Bad star, Aaron Paul.
