According to Chinese automotive media, a new brand was registered in China by the BMW-Brilliance joint venture. The new sub-brand is called "Zhi Nuo" which roughly translates into "The Promise".
The Chinese automotive media is buzzing at the moment with this new info. According to some rumors, the new sub-brand car will be based on the E9x generation 3 Series' platform while other insist that the current X1 will be providing the basis for a "New Energy" model developed by the joint venture sub-brand.
However, the "Zhi Nuo" brand is not going to be announced officially to soon, as you might expect. The Shanghai Auto Show seems like the best occasion to show the new line of cars if there is going to be any official unveiling.
Apparently, BMW already revealed its plans to key Chinese BMW dealers in order to receive feedback on the proposal. A source close to BMW China said that the company promised to introduce this new brand only for China as part of its expansion plans for the Asian market.
