Unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the BMW Active Tourer Concept took the BMW world by surprise. This concept is supposed to be the basis of the new 1 Series GT, a car that will be released sometime around the end of this year.
The 1 Series GT will be BMW's answer to Mercedes Benz's B-Class and Audi's A3 Sportback, fighting in this new segment. The rumors around this new Bimmer say that the 1er GT will have a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (the smallest in the BMW line-up) with a synchronous electric motor for the rear wheels.

This one will be the first front wheel drive BMW ever made. The electric motor for the rear axle will help out from time to time and will add up to the total of 188 HP the car will ultimately have.

Even though the petrol engine will have only 1.5 liters don't expect the car to be small. It will have quite generous proportions measuring 4,350mm (171.2-inches) in length, 1,834mm (72.2-inches) in width and 1,560mm (61.4-inches) in height.

The BMW Active Tourer is intended for people that are interested in using green technology but at the same time like their luxurious way of life and comfort. Today we can see it live at Geneva.
