BMW kept its word and went to Shanghai with almost all of its concepts, in order to show how much it appreciates the Chinese and Asian markets. One of the concepts that made its Asian debut at the Shanghai Motor Show was the Active Tourer Concept.
The future front-wheel drive BMW that will be based on the new UKL platform which will also be used on future MINIs, is now within the reach of the far East journalists that were craving to get a first hand look at this futuristic concept.
Even thought the 4,350mm (171 in.) long, 1,834mm (72 in.) wide and 1,560mm (61 in.) tall car will be the first one to go out of the usual BMW boundaries (being the first car from the Bavarian manufacturer with front-wheel-drive), engineers and the Board of Management are confident it will be a great success.
The production car will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a synchronous electric motor and is aiming at people that are interested in using green technology while also enjoying the comfort and luxury of a BMW.
