Do you know what the hardest part of driving in the winter is? No, it has nothing to do with or visibility. It's keeping an eye out for people who don't realize that they should adjust their driving style if they want to make it home in one piece.
Usually, it's the SUV drivers who get really carried away. They think that having a car with four-wheel-drive and a higher ground clearance makes them impervious to the laws of physics, and most often than not they find out that's not the case the hard way.

People with rear-wheel-driven cars tend to be a lot more cautious, and with good reason. If this setup is ideal for improved handling under normal conditions, it can be a bit of a nightmare to handle when grip isn't exactly optimal. However, with the right set of tires and a right mindset, there's no reason why an RWD car can't get you through the winter in perfect safety.

But if you decide to rocket off the line at a traffic light in your V8-powered 473 hp BMW 750i, you're soon going to regret skipping o the xDrive four-wheel-drive option. But this guy is even worse than that. If you watch the clip, you'll see how he loses control once, almost regains it, and then slams the accelerator once again thinking he'll do it again if anything goes bad. It does, but he doesn't.

There are two positive things that happen here. The first is that he doesn't brake, which would have been the natural, and yet wrong reaction. Gently releasing the gas while making sure not to jerk the steering wheel is how you get out of these situations, but only if they haven't already gone too far.

The second is that he manages to spare the cars on the other side of the road, so the only real victim here is his BMW and his pride. Oh, and that streetlight pole that just happened to be in the worst possible spot. Well, his insurance will probably cover most of it, as for his pride, we're sure he has an excuse ready.
