It seems like someone over at BMW likes to play jokes on the brand's fans, testing them from time to time, to see if they’re as witty as they claim. Just yesterday, one guy browsing on the BMW.de website noticed there’s a 720i model available, but just for a brief moment.
Apparently, it was all just a fluke, the car being taken down from the website in just a couple of minutes, leaving us to wonder just what was going on over there. Could this mean we’re in for a new model in the 7 Series range? And could this model be fitted with a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine?

Absolutely not. At least not for now. The F01/F02 7 Series just received a facelift last year and some new engines therefore new models are less than likely to show up, especially one with a measly 4-cylinder under the bonnet.

However, we could see a 720i model in the future, coming with the upcoming G11 platform but rated at more than the 184 HP the usual 320i makes. Rumors claim that if the 7 Series will get such an engine it will have close to 300 HP and 400 Nm of torque, to cope with the weight of the car so that it doesn’t feel like a total slouch on the road.
