While BMW is finally on its merry introduction way ahead of Goodwood FoS with its first-ever M3 Touring, over across the virtual automotive realm, family-oriented things are on a horror-inducing pathway.
Following countless teasers, unofficial renderings, spies, and traditional leaks, BMW has finally revealed the official looks of its M3 Touring ahead of the public presentation during the Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 23-26). It’s a 503-hp high-performance M GmbH product, all right, but also a family grocery getter with 500 to 1,510 liters of cargo space.
That would be 17.65 to 53.32 cu. ft. when thinking about Imperial units – but it does not matter because the cool BMW station wagon is forbidden fruit in the United States. Interestingly, virtual automotive artists have an alternative proposal for something that could help soccer moms scare the bejesus out of hockey dads making fun of their driving skills.
So, do welcome the hypothetical G70 series-based BMW 7 Series minivan with sliding doors and the desire to bring nightmares into your automotive dreams like the i7 or even the facelifted X7 flagship SUV never could. Coincidence or not, this is not the first time this week that we get to see a split-headlight BMW-imagined MPV that looks the stuff of digital nightmares even with cool sliding doors.
On this occasion, though, Kleber Silva, a Brazil-based virtual artist known as KDesign AG on social media, was inspired by something different rather than Audi’s recent urbansphere EV concept or BMW’s (U06) 2 Series Active Touring. Instead, this pixel master piggybacked on the unsuspecting Chinese-produced base of the 2021 Hyundai Custo and then only adapted cues snatched from the G70 BMW 7 Series, i7, and even the mighty X7 SUV.
So, what do you think, should BMW expand the 7 Series roster with a split-headlight minivan and hope that it will prevail in the face of crossover, SUV, and truck adversity when (almost) everyone else failed and decided to abandon the MPV quest?
