Even though this year will be only the 13th edition, the Chinese show is one of the biggest in the world, due to the ever increasing car market the country is developing. Since it’s currently holding the number one spot in the world, recently overtaking the US, all major car makers will be on the scene, introducing their latest models, specifically modified for the Asian culture.

BMW will show up with its new X4 Sport Activity Coupe, 2 Series Active Tourer, 4 Series Gran Coupe, 2 Series Coupe, M3 and M4, the i8 and i3 and, a special 7 Series Horse Edition that will be available only on the Chinese market, celebrating the Year of the Horse.

This luxurious version will be based on the long-wheelbase version of the Sedan and comes with BMW Individual paint finishes, the M Sport package in and out and high-class interior details.

However, the most important piece on display will surely be the i sub-brand. Since China is facing some of the worst air pollution in the world, with its megacities being covered in thick layers of smog, electric and hybrid vehicles seem to be the solution to a long standing problem.

The i3 and i8 have the potential to appeal to everyone out there, offering both convenable emission-free transportation and an exhilarating driving experience, to cater to every need. Even when fitted with the range extender feature, the i3 would still be lightyears ahead of any Chinese-made car at the moment.

Rumors also claim that the Germans will make a big announcement at the event, some even claiming that it will be related to a new model, placed above the 7 Series. While it would make sense from certain points of view, we don’t have any official information about the matter at the moment.
