Owners of the BMW F650/800GS two-cylinder models now have the option to fit the new “Xtreme” ERGO Screen shield from BMW accessories manufacturer Wunderlich on their bikes. Wunderlich brags it has succeeded in striking exactly the right balance.

At a height of 440 millimetres the slim screen sits precisely midway between the BMW original and the ERGO Screen's predecessor model. The riders also gets a better view over the front wheel.

“With this innovation the employees of Wunderlich Sinzig promise maximum protection from wind with a minimum size of screen. Moreover offer these reduced dimensions the rider an optimal view over the front wheel,” a company statement from Wunderlich reads.

The six-millimetre-thick screen made of petrol-resistant Lexan plastic provides a clear, turbulence-free incident flow up to the highest speeds. This doesn’t only reduce the vibrations in the helmet area - the extra width at the lower end also provides optimal protection for hands and arms.

What is really interesting is that the positive difference made by airflow mechanics of the “Xtreme” is especially clear when the bike is being ridden in the rain, as the play of water on the visor is significantly reduced. The screen’s lower end benefits from a dynamic tint transition, with the effect that the F's protruding controls fit / integrate perfectly into the overall design.

The “Xtreme” ERGO Screen costs EUR89.90, is supplied with a complete fitting kit and TUV certification, and it is installed easily. It is available in transparent and smoky grey.
