If you’re in the market to buy a four-door coupe from ‘za Germans, look no further than the brand new 6-Series Gran Coupe. Ahead of the UK market launch in June, BMW has released full pricing for the three engine options available, but only in combination with sDrive.
The 6-Series Gran Coupe diesel range starts and ends with the £63,900 640d, which gets you a 3.0-liter twin-turbo diesel with 313 horsepower. The car will get you to 62 mpg in just 5.4 seconds and on the combined UK cycle will do almost 50 mpg, which is better than most hatchbacks and about the same as an entry-level 1-Series.
Honestly, unless they introduce the tri-turbo to the range any time soon, this is the car you should go for.
If you want to burn the good old gasoline, the cheapest you can go is the £61,390 640i, which gets you a 320 hp 3.0-liter straight-six, which does 35.8 mpg combined. If fuel is no object, than the pick of the bunch is the 650i, which comes with a 450 hp 4.4-liter V8.
