BMW is celebrating its 30 years of presence on the Japanese market with a special edition model called the 528i 30th Anniversary Edition. The model has gone on sale today, with only 200 such 5-Series models to be delivered.
The anniversary edition is sort of a collector’s antique, as it’s powered by the old naturally aspirated 3.0-liter straight six engine, not the new 2.0-liter turbocharged unit.
The 200 examples will stand out thanks to the Japan M Sport package that includes custom front and rear bumpers, side skirts and larger alloy wheels, along with the BMW Individual aluminum window line trim. The body is painted Deep Sea Blue Metallic, while the innards are covered in Veneto Beige Dakota leather.
Sales will be strictly limited to Japan, with prices to star at JPY 7,890,000, which is about $103,400 at the current exchange rate. For that kind of money, you can get the new 6-Series Convertible with a big V8.
