Today BMW finally confirmed what was already known on the internet for quite some time: the 5 Series Edition Sport model. Don’t get too excited though, it’s not a brand new car but a ‘special edition’ in most traditional BMW way possible.
The company introduced updated diesel engines for the 5 Series range a while back, the beneficiaries being the 520d models with or without xDrive and in Sedan and Touring guises. Going from 184 HP to 190 might not seem like much but the improvements can be felt in NVH levels (noise, vibration, harshness), fuel consumption and CO2 emissions department.
However, the big news today is that starting with March, customers can order the Edition Sport model described as ‘an attractive supplement for the BMW 5 Series Sedan and the BMW 5 Series Touring’ by the company.
What this package actually consists of is a select choosing of exterior and interior options that is supposed to bring the car’s character to life.
The optionals include a leather-covered sports steering wheel, LED fog lamps, the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line, as well as redesigned 18-inch, double spoke light alloy wheels. Edition Sport can be ordered for all model variants, including the M Performance models.
On top of that, the 5 Series range now gets new color choices for both the Sedan and Touring models. They include Mediterranean Blue Metallic and Mineral Grey Metallic and both can be had with the M Sport package. As far as the Gran Turismo model goes, it won’t be getting these colors but Kasmir Silver Metallic instead. You can check out the new colors in the gallery below.
