So, the entry level model on petrol will be the 428i, fitted with a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is done in 6.4 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

Fuel consumption is rated at 6.8 l/100 km (34 mpg) for the manual 6-speed transmission and 6.6 l/100km (35.6 mpg) for the automatic 8-speed. Furthermore, all engines are EU6 compliant, this one releasing 159 grams of CO2 into the atmosphere for each km.

The 435i will use the classic 3-liter turbo 6-cylinder N55 engine that makes 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque. Performances are better than expected, 0-62 mph (100 km/h) taking just 5.5 seconds for the automatic and 5.6 for the manual transmission.

Fuel efficiency has been rated at a combined 7.5 l/100 km (31.3 mpg) for the auto and 8.1 l/100 km (29 mpg) for the manual and CO2 emissions sit around 176 grams of CO2 per km.
Last but not least, we have a diesel too, the 420d model, using a 2-liter turbo diesel unit that makes 184 HP and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. This model is by far the most efficient, taking up just 4.8 l/100km (49 mpg) with the automatic and 5.1 l/100km (46 mpg) for the manual gearbox.

Performance is not bad either, getting to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.2 seconds for both transmission and emitting just 127 grams of CO2 per 1 km. Most likely, the 420d won’t make it to the US at first, the best choice out there remaining the 428i for both performance and efficiency.
