In this year's Mille Miglia no less than 9 BMW 328s entered and all of them completed the legendary race without any technical difficulties, 75 years after the car's debut in 1938.
On the twisty roads of the historic track, the gearbox of the 328 takes the most of the stress and has to endure the harsh conditions. In order to mend this extra effort all the cars that raced this year used the new BMW 328 gearbox replica created by BMW in cooperation with ZF.

Out of the nine cars that lined up at the starting line, 4 were exclusive one-offs: the winning car of 1940, the BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupé, the BMW 328 MM Roadster, a 1937 BMW 328 Berlin-Rome Touring Roadster and the BMW 328 Kamm Coupé.

“To witness the BMW 328 on this highly traditional route is a fascinating experience every time,” commented Dr Ralf Rodepeter, Director BMW Museum and BMW Group Classic Marketing.

“The thought of those 1,000 miles being clocked up non-stop and at top speed 75 years ago commands the utmost respect from any motor racing fan following this event. We are very proud to be able to present in such authentic form today the vehicles that achieved those feats all that time ago,” he added.
