BMW 3-Series to Get Three-Cylinder Engines

When BMW released the new F30 3-Series, one of the most important fact about the car was that its bonnet exclusively hides turbocharged engines. However, it seems that in its quest for efficient, BMW will go even further and introduce three-cylinder engines on the 3er.
BMW’s engine development boss, Peter Nefischer, told What Car that the automotive producer is working to develop three-cylinder mill, with these potentially making their way to the 3-Series in the following years.

We are taking about downsized powerplants which will make use of advanced turbocharging to provide both the power and torque needed to offer the vehicle decent driving dynamics, as well as the reason they were used in the first place - efficiency.
