BMW 228i to Get Track Handling Package

It seems like BMW isn’t focused exclusively on the M235i out of the 2 Series range but also on other models, looking to provide their customers with the best possible driving experience. At least that’s what they claim but as we know, facts speak louder than words and today, they announced a new package for the 228i.

The lower spec model will be getting a the so-called Track Handling Package (THP) later this year (July) that will supposedly make it more fun to drive. According to BMW, the THP will include the M Adaptive Suspension, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on unique 18” light-alloy wheels, Variable Sport Steering and M Sport brakes.

Fortunately, unlike other optional features out there, the THP will be available on both automatic and manual models and can be added to any 228i Coupe when ordering which is peculiar since there’s no official price for it, at the moment.

Looking over what each component of the package brings, the car should sit lower by 10 mm, be more composed in tight turns, offer more feedback through the steering wheel, brake more efficiently and have more grip, thanks to the new tires.

While it all looks too good to be true, with this pack, the 228i could give the M235i a run for its money. That’s because it’s lighter due to using a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and has plenty of power to keep going at it all day, with 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. All we have to do now is wait for the pricing that should be less than the options taken separately that add-up to around $2,250 in the US.
