These days BMW is officially launching the new 2 Series Convertible in the US with a big event where journalists around the world are invited to test drive it. Apart from letting people get behind its wheel, the Germans also released a new set of photos that could very well serve as brilliant wallpapers for your desktop.
As for the cars themselves, we already told you all you needed to know. The complete range is made up of seven models out of which only two will make it stateside.

Yes, we’re talking about the 228i and the M235i, the most desirable of the bunch anyway. They will also be available with the intelligent all-wheel drive system, xDrive so you could say that there are four different models available if you want to be more... precise.

The entry-level 228i will come with the N20 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine making 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque while the M235i will use the same N55 plant on the Coupe making 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.

In Europe, you can also get diesel alternatives in the shape of the 150 HP 218d or the 224 HP 225d models. Both of them are extremely frugal but open-top experiences shouldn’t be that noisy anyway (yes, I’m talking about the characteristic NVH levels).

On the other hand, you also get two more petrol versions that are cheaper and could become the best sellers. There’s the 2-liter 4-cylinder 220i that has a 184 HP mill under the bonnet and even the 218i version that’s powered by a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder plant making 136 HP. Since this last choice is supposed to be a 3-liter mill cut in half, the sound should be rather nice and similar to the one in the i8.

Prices in the US for the 228i Convertible start at $37,900 MSRP which is $5,800 more than the Coupe. The difference between the M235i models goes down to $4,600 as the Convertible M Performance automobile starts at $47,700 in the drop top guise.
