BMW is looking to make the most of its new 1-Series and this includes the creation of a separate 2-Series range, which will include the Coupe and the Cabrio and we’re here to talk about the latter, which is set to arrive in 2014.
The F23 2-Series will share its mechanical side with the new F20 1-Series, which means that the engine range will probably include the same units, while the gearbox department will include a six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic, while BMW might also offer its dual-clutch M-DCT gearbox on a potential future 235i with an M badge.

The future 2-Series could also be offered with xDrive AWD, but a decision hasn’t been made so far. BMW has chosen to introduce a new series in order to market this as a range of cars with their own identity and thus increase the pricing for the models and draw the interest of more customers. Thus, the vehicle will get special exterior details, unlike the car in our rendering here, which hopefully means that it will be more attractive.

The 2-Series Cabrio will compete against Audi's upcoming A3 Cabrio and maybe against Mercede's A-Class Cabrio, if the latter receives the production green light.
